THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR PORTFOLIO
… a critical component to my success has been having a strong and visually powerful portfolio for people to immerse themselves in. Don’t get me wrong; social media is great for fan interaction. I’m always updating my Facebook, Instagram, and Behance accounts and having fun with folks who care to comment on my work, but abiding by resolution, aspect ratio, and quality restrictions set in place by each service only debilitates the end result.
Spending ten hours retouching a photo and applying a fine precision sharpen layer as the last step, only for a soulless algorithm to compress the details and crunch the red spectrum into such a splotchy mess that it looks like it was dragged from the depths of the Internet circa 1993 is no way to display your work, especially for someone like me who probably – no, definitely – spends far, far too long in Photoshop perfecting his shots at 200-300% zoom that literally 100% of the universe will never even notice in the first place…
